The leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said the negotiations on the formation of the pro-European government coalition reached deadlock and a dialogue should be immediately initiated with the PCRM. The Liberal-Democratic leader made such a statement after the January 12 round of talks between the PLDM, PD and PL, which, according to him, produced no results, IPN reports.
Vlad Filat, who expressed his regret at the fact that the discussions with the Communists hadn’t been initiated immediately after the elections, argued that there is not much time available. “This week is decisive. The administration of Parliament must be chosen, the candidate for premiership must be proposed and the procedure for investing the Government must be started by the end of this week. The country needs a government and we think we must have a dialogue with the Party of Communists,” he stated.
Filat made it clear that the blockage is due to the Liberals, who demand that they should be offered the post of head of state, while the PLDM and PDM consider that the post of President cannot be distributed.
Despite this, Vlad Filat insists that the discussions with the PCRM should involve all the three pro-European parties. “I would like a meeting between the four parties to be held. It won’t be negotiations, but a dialogue. We must also identify a formula for electing the head of state so as to secure the necessary 61 votes of MP. An exact agreement concerning the developments in 2016 must be reached,” he said.
The leader of the PLDM pleaded for continuing the talks with the PL, but rejected the idea of having a dialogue with the Socialists, arguing they represent the interests of another state.
