The parties that refused to have a dialogue with the Democratic Party in the context of the mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality will be directly responsible if the Socialists win the mayoralty, the party’s leader Vlad Plahotniuc stated in a press briefing after the weekly meeting of PDM members, IPN reports.
As to the PDM’s intention to support a common candidate of the forces of the right, Vlad Plahotniuc said the distorted reactions of some of the parties to the invitations to dialogue can no longer take by surprise, but their arrogant attitude can disappoint again the voters of the center-right.
“Polls clearly show that the right has one real chance in the elections in Chisinau if it unites around a common candidate chosen by consensus or based on poll ratings. We see yet that the parties categorically refuse to discuss not only with the Democratic Party, but also between them. Some of these parties several months ago announced with exaltation that they will form an electoral bloc, but now do not even discuss between them,” said the Democratic leader.
The Democratic Party on March 6 announced that it will not have an own candidate for the mayoral elections that will take place in Chisinau on May 20, but is ready to support a common candidate of the pro-European parties or the parties of the right. The idea wasn’t supported.
