“I congratulate you on the unlocking of the political crisis. I consider that the election of the President is an important step that will motivate us to concentrate on reforms,” First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc told the press during a working visit to Comrat on March 17, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Asked about the possible return of the Communists to Parliament, Vlad Plahotniuc said the opposition should take part in the sittings and contribute to the efficient work of the legislative body.
As to the new President of Moldova, the First Deputy Speaker said that he deserves this post. “Nicolae Timofti is neither my man nor the man of Filat, Lupu or Ghimpu. He is the man of our people. I know him, but our ways did not intersect as until recently he worked in another field,” he stated.
Asked by reporters about Andrian Nichifor, Vlad Plahotniuc said: “There is a difference of about 15 years between us. I don’t know Andrian, but I know his elder brother as we studied at the same school in the village.”
While in Comrat, Vlad Plahotniuc discussed cooperation-related issues with the head of the Gagauz legislature Ana Harlamenko and local deputies and inquired how the uninominal voting system works in Gagauzia.
Recently, Vlad Plahotniuc submitted a legislative initiative to legalize uninominal voting when electing the members of Parliament. He believes that the people should elect people, not party lists.
As the deputy head of the Democrat Party, Vlad Plahotniuc also had a series of activities related to party work in Comrat.
