Former MP and member of the Democratic Party Vald Plahotniuc, who left temporarily the position of the party’s first deputy chairman, owns four TV channels and three radio stations. According to the portal anticoruptie.md, quoted by IPN, Vlad Plahotniuc this week founded two new firms - General Media Group Corp. and Radio Media Group Inc. which include the given stations. Until recently, a number of media companies were registered as components of General Media Group.
Anticoruptie.md says the businessman made these changes following the taking effect of amendments to the Broadcasting Code by which the private broadcasters are obliged to declare who their real owners are. Within ten days of the coming into force of the amendments, the private broadcasters must make public the names of the owners and information about the shareholdings these own in the media companies, the list of the board members and the names of the manager, program producers and presenters. The four TV channels are: Publika TV, Prime TV, Canal 2 and Canal 3. The radio stations are: Publika FM, Muz FM and Maestro FM. The firms were founded on November 10, when it was the deadline. In both of the cases, businessman Vlad Plahotniuc owns 100% of the shares. The companies have the same head office.
General Media Group Corp. is managed by Petru Jelihovschi. Its registered capital is 42 million lei. Radio Media Group Inc. is managed by Victoria Bucataru and its registered capital is 5 million lei. The declared activity objectives of the two companies are identical: to air program services by terrestrial radio-electrical and any other telecommunications method; to provide publicity services; to produce videos and TV programs, to provide business consultancy, etc.
