The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin, after Thursday's sitting of the legislature, told the journalists that Speaker Marian Lupu shouldn't have called a meeting with the heads of state institutions and agencies as the price regulation problem is to be discussed in the Government, not in Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“As Head of Parliament, Marian Lupu should not take such steps,” Vladimir Voronin said.
Asked to comment on Communists' reproaches, the Speaker and Moldova's Acting President Marian Lupu stressed that when Vladimir Voronin was head of state he did not hesitate to convene meetings with government officials, breaking flagrantly the law.
“No member of the executive attended yesterday's meeting. There were present only representatives of state and parliamentary institutions. It was a kind of democratic move. More such meetings will be convened if need be,” Marian Lupu said.
Communist MP Grigore Petrenco asked the Speaker what right he had to call that meeting. Marian Lupu took notice of the question, but did not answer it. As the lawmaker insisted, the Head of Parliament disconnected the microphone into which Petrenco was speaking.
In Wednesday's meeting, members of the administrations of the National Agency for Energy Regulation, the National Agency for Competition Protection, the Central Bank and other state institutions were instructed to formulate by this weekend solutions and proposals how to decrease the prices of certain products and services.
