Voter turnout in Chisinau higher than 31% at 7pm

Almost 200,000 people with the right to vote cast theri ballots in Chisinau municipality by 7pm. This is over 31.37% of the voters put on the electoral registers. The data were presented by the Chisinau District Electoral Council in a press briefing, IPN reports.

According to the Council’s deputy head Ina Babin, no challenges or complaints were filed to the Council. The voters aged between 56 and 70 were the most active ones, with over 69,000 people of this age bracket having voted. These were followed by the voters aged between 26 and 40 (over 47,000) and those older than 70 (21,000). The voters aged between 18 and 25 were the least active ones (11,000).

The most active ones were those from Rascani district. The voter turnout there was 33.61%. The turnout in Centru district was 32.97%, in Botanica district - 32.56%, in Buiucani – 31.5%, in Ciocana – 30.77%. In the suburban localities, the voter turnout was 27.21% by 7pm. The most active ones were the voters in Tohatin commune, where the participation rate was 34.17%, while the voters in Sangera town of Chisinau municipality were the least active ones, with a rate of only 20.71%.

Over 34,000 voters or about 32% of those eligible to vote cast their ballots in Balti municipality by 6:45pm. The voter turnout in the suburban communities was 28% by 6:45pm.

The voter turnout in Leuseni, Hancesti was 30.8%, in Nemteni, Hancesti – 32.55%, in Jora de Mijloc, Orhei – 48.23%, in Volovita, Soroca – 40.35%, while in Parlita, Ungheni – 33.59 %.

The minimum  voter turnout required for validating the elections in Chisinau municipality was reached at 4.20pm, while in Balti municipality at close to 4pm.
