The voters have different opinions as regards the removal of the curtain from the entrance to the polling booth. Some of them said they were not bothered by the curtain’s absence, while others asserted their right to secret ballot was violated, Info-Prim Neo reports. A pensioner who went to cast her ballot at polling place No. 1/131 in Chisinau said she knew that the curtain will be taken away and has nothing against it as she is anyway with her back to the hall and nobody sees where she puts the stamp. Another voter at the same polling place said he did not know about this decision, but was not inconvenienced. “If the authorities took such a decision, it means that it is better so and certain situations can be prevented,” said the man. The voters who expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that the curtain was removed said their right to secret ballot was thus infringed. The Central Election Commission approved the decision to remove the curtains in a meeting on June 14, but the Supreme Court of Justice annulled it on June 18 at about 7pm. Afterward, the Commission ordered that the curtains be set up at the voters’ request.
