The mandatory health insurance policy for war veterans will be paid for by the state. Free health policies will also be provided to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who live in the country, but receive social insurance pensions from other states. Parliament gave a first reading to several bills concerning additional social protection for particular categories of citizens, IPN reports.

Under another amendment, the state social allowance will be raised from 250 lei to 500 lei, for the surviving wives/husbands of participants in World War II or in combats during peacetime, who died in the line of duty, or of participants in the Chernobyl cleanup, who died.

It is proposed that the new provisions should take effect on July 1, 2020.

The three bills were merged into one bill. To take effect, the bill is to be adopted by the MPs in the final reading.
