Washington follows positive political changes in Moldova, U.S. official

The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in a meeting with Moldovan Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca, said that Washington follows attentively the positive democratic changes that are taking place in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the meeting of Iurie Leanca and Hillary Clinton held on March 20 represented one of the key elements of the visit paid by the Moldovan official to the United States on March 19-20. During the discussions, the Secretary of State expressed the United State’s devotion to the relations with Moldova, which, according to her, can be named a success example in the Eastern part of Europe, and confirmed the firm support of the U.S. for Moldova’s European integration aspirations. For his part, Iurie Leanca named the relations between Moldova and the U.S. as privileged and of strategic importance. The United States pledged to assist Moldova in reforming the justice sector, strengthening energy security and fostering the commercial relations. On this occasion, the Moldovan minister invited Hillary Clinton to pay an official visit to Moldova this year.
