“We are against politicizing the decision to set up polling places for Russia’s State Duma elections in Transnistria,” Russian Ambassador to Chisinau Valery Kuzmin said in the program “In profunzime” on Pro TV channel. The ambassador reiterated the position stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, that Russia ensures the right to vote of the Russian citizens living outside the country, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the diplomat, Russia took two factors into account – the Russian legislation that provides for guaranteeing the right to vote of any Russian and the respect for Moldova’s territorial integrity. Valery Kuzmin said that the people living on the left bank of the Nistru would not come to vote on the right bank as it is difficult when the polling places are situated far away. On November 28, the Russian Embassy announced that polling places for the December 4 State Duma elections will be established in the Transnistrian region as well. Nine polling places will be opened in Tiraspol, six in Bender, by two in Rybnitsa and Dubasari and by one polling place in Slobozia, Grigoriopol and Dnestrovsk.
