“We could resist this dictatorship only united,” mayor-elect Andrei Nastase stated before the protesters who gathered together in front of the Chisinau City Hall in the morning of June 26. The leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” said that regardless of religion, spoken language and place of residence, the people should combine forces and struggle this injustice, IPN reports.
Andrei Nastase said the establishment of ferocious dictatorship started in Chisinau and the people should not allow this to happen. “We should remain united and should continue our struggle. We cannot allow to be robbed in the parliamentary elections of this autumn, as until now. We will have to take measures to stop this process and we will stop it. Please, follow us in the course of the day. We will decide the next steps,” stated the politician.
The leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu said that today is the first day of resistance to dictatorship and dictator Plahotniuc (Vlad Plahotniuc, leader of the PDM, e.n.). “The most important thing is to believe in our power. We are many and powerful here and the truth is on our side. They can lie to no one. They no longer have what to hide behind. Their dictatorial regime was baptized yesterday evening. Everyone saw who they are. Nobody can divide us anymore. It is important not to give up now and to believe that we are powerful and have confidence in ourselves,” she noted.
Maia Sandu also said that more protests will be mounted in the districts of Chisinau and in other localities of the country. “We will not reveal all the plans so that they could get ready. We must be attentive as they are shrewd. We must be vigilant and tell them only how much they must know,” she stated.
The crowed of people who gathered at 7:30am dispersed two hours later with the intention of returning to the street. The main artery of Chisinau was temporarily closed to traffic.
In the evening of June 25, the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the Appeals Court’s decision to not invalidate the results of the early mayoral elections held recently in Chisinau municipality.
