The Czech film “A marriage story” directed by Helena Trestikova won the Top Prize and the Trophy of “Chronograph” Festival to the value of €2,500 provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. “The prize is offered for the depiction of changes in the modern world through the angle of one family”, the jury of the festival’s Main Section argued. Helena Trestikova has won the Top Prize of “Chronograph” for the second time. In 2008, she won the trophy for the film “Marcela”, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Culture of Moldova provided the Special Jury Prize of €1,000 to “Village People” (Bulgaria), directed by Tzvetan Dragnev. The Dutch film “Bezness as usual” directed by Alex Pitstra won the honorable mention in the Main Section for the courage by which a personal story is brought on screen and for showing relations between people of different cultures.
“The PE Teacher, The Gold and the River” directed by Amanbek Azhymat from Kazakhstan was named the best short film. The Public Sympathy Prize in the Main Section was won by the Austrian film “SECONDO ME” directed by Pavel Cuzuioc. The Image Prize of €1,000 went to the Portuguese-Swiss film “Ama-San” directed by Claudia Varejao.
The cadRO Trophy of 3,000 Romanian lei was won by “In Search of a Lost Father”, produced by Ionut Teianu of Romania. The Top Prize and the Trophy of the Local Productions Section to the value of 7,000 lei went to the documentary “Who Loves and Leaves” directed by Victor Galusca.
The jury of the A LIKE for a Documentary Section intended for the teenage public, which consisted of five lyceum students, gave the prize of 10,000 lei to the Spanish short film “Lo Ves?” directed by Patty Bonet.
For the second consecutive year, UN Women Moldova offered a Special Prize of €544 for films that address the struggle for the rights of women and gender equality. The winner “Women+” is a Russian film made by Nastia Kuzyakova.
The competition involved 16 documentaries in the Main Section/Long Films, five films in the Main Section/Short Films, 12 films in the cadRO Section, nine films made in Moldova in the Local Productions Section and ten documentaries in the A LIKE for a Documentary Section.
The 14th International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” is taking place during May 25-31.
