A woman aged 38 from Razeni village of Ialoveni district, who was receiving treatment for cold at home, died last night.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the Razeni Health Center Valentina Andriuta said the woman treated herself at home during several days and called an ambulance only yesterday. As the ambulance team was busy, she went to the family doctor, who diagnosed her with pneumonia and urged her to accept to be hospitalized. The woman refused and the doctor issued her with a prescription for continuing the treatment at home. The woman’s relatives said at night they called again the ambulance, but it didn’t come and the woman died until morning.
The woman lived in Razeni at rented accommodations and worked as a seller at her sister’s shop. She had two children, aged 12 and 17.
According to the National Public Health Center, 155 cases of flu have been reported by February 23. Of them, 67 were confirmed by lab tests. Thirty-six of the cases of flu were caused by the type B virus, 29 – by AH1N1, while two by AH3N2.
Five persons died because of flu complications so far this year. Statistics do not cover cases of treatment at home.
