The women are 58.4% predisposed to infection with COVID-19 compared with the other categories of persons. The average age of the infected persons is 47, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated in a news conference on May 1.
Making reference to a weekly report produced by the Ministry, Viorica Dumbrăveanu said the persons from urban areas are exposed to a higher risk of infection than those from rural areas. The highest infection rate was recorded in Ștefan-Vodă, Glodeni and Soroca, while the lowest one in Șoldănești, Cimișlia and Basarabeasca, IPN reports.
According to the report, the average age of persons who died because of COVID-19 is 66. 98% of the victims had serious health problems.
As many as 3,897 infections with COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova by May 1. A number of 122 infected persons died, while 1,272 got cured. 251 persons are in a serious state, while 22 are in a very serious state and were put on a ventilator.
