The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) and the World Bank have launched discussions on the future National Financial Inclusion Strategy. The first meeting of the working group was held at the NBM with the aim of laying the foundations for the implementation of an efficient and inclusive strategy, IPN reports.

The central bank’s delegation is led by deputy governor Tatiana Ivanichkina. “This strategy is essential to ensure equitable access to financial services for all citizens, thus contributing to reducing economic inequalities,” the NBM deputy governor stressed.

The head of the World Bank’s technical assistance team on the topic of financial inclusion Syed Mehdi Hassan underlined the crucial importance of a National Financial Inclusion Strategy for the Republic of Moldova. According to him, a well-founded strategy will significantly contribute to increasing the population’s access to safe and accessible financial services, thus ensuring economic development based on equity criteria.

The World Bank Experts’ Technical Assistance Mission to Chisinau continues with discussions over the next two weeks, from September 23 to October 4, to formulate proposals for the National Financial Inclusion Strategy.

More than 60 countries have already adopted financial inclusion strategies.
