On the World Environment Day marked on June 5, the Moldovan authorities will discuss the reduction of poverty, promotion of green economy and protection of the environment. These aspects are contained in the National Report prepared for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) that will take place in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro on June 20-22, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We will further count on the support of the country’s administration in dealing with the acute ecological problems. The national programs and plans aimed at remedying the environment situation and improving the quality of environmental factors are being implemented with the help of decision makers and civil society,” said Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Salaru. The central environment authority and its subdivisions set the insistent promotion of conservation of biological diversity and the sustainable use of natural resources as strategic objectives of the policy on environment protection. “The Ministry’s main task is to implement the environment policy in line with the Government’s social policy. We need to promote the principles of sustainable development, combat the violation of the environment legislation, improve the legislative and normative documents and adjust them to the environmental standards of the EU,” said Gheorghe Salaru. The World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5. The same day, it is marked the Day of Workers of the Environment Protection Sector.
