World puppeteers to meet in Chisinau after five years

The Chisinau-based Puppet Theater “Licurici”opens today the fourth International Puppet Theaters Gala “Licurici 65”. The festivity starts at 5pm, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference, the festival's director Titus Jukov said theaters from nine countries, including Moldova, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Israel, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine, will give by three performances daily, until October 14. The 21 plays will be performed in the languages of the participating countries.
Titus Jukov also said the festival is an extraordinary chance for the public to see talented puppeteers in Chisinau and an occasion for the theaters to exchange experience.
Among the invitees of the festival is the Romanian theater “Tandarica”, which has often come to Chisinau after Moldova proclaimed its independence. It will stage the play “Pacala”, directed by Ioan Brancu. The Israeli Agadit Puppet Theater will put on the play “Little Amadeus” by Gadit Cohen, about composer Mozart at the age of five.
Titus Jukov said the play “Geese and Swans” will be performed by two theaters – the Naberejnochelninskii Theater from Tatarstan, Russia, and the Crimean Academic Theater from Simferopol, Ukraine.
The Puppet Theater “Licurici” launched the festival in 1995. The event takes place once in five years.
