Young man gets 15 years for raping and killing elderly woman

A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in jail for rape, rape attempt and murder, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the Prosecutor General’s Office says that in the spring of 2010, the young man who is from Causeni, went to visit an elderly woman in the same settlement. Being inebriated, he stole 2 000 lei from her, raped her and strangled her afterward in order to hide his crime. One month later, the culprit, who was also under the influence of alcohol, tried to rape another woman, but the victim escaped. The woman informed the police and the young man was arrested. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
