Young man gets four years for desertion

A conscript soldier of the National Army Transmissions Battalion was sentenced to four years in jail for desertion, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office, in October 2011 the soldier, while in the head office of the Chisinau Military Prosecutor’s Office and knowing that he was to be accompanied by his superior to the unit, left the office. He presented himself at the place where he did his military service in a month. In December the same year, the young man deserted the military unit again and was found at his girlfriend in Drochia in February 2012. The court gave him four years and fined him 587 lei for losing the military uniform. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
