Young man survives suicide attempt, but could remain confined to bed for life

A 26-year-old man who tried to kill himself could remain confined to bed for the rest of his life. Ieronim Ciumas, deputy head of the Chisinau Emergency Hospital, has told Info-Prim Neo that after a family quarrel on Wednesday evening, the young man tried to hang himself. It is now yet known if the rope broke or he was saved by his relatives. When the doctors arrived, the man was in convulsion. The preliminary examinations showed the man had his spine broken in the cervical region. He was rushed to the reanimatology section of the Emergency Hospital. Four young men under the influence of alcohol were taken to the same hospital with cranial-cerebral traumas and contusions. They were celebrating the birthday of one of them in a dormitory in Botanica district when several individuals broke in and beat them. A 19-year-old woman was admitted to Saint Trinity Hospital with suspect mushroom poisoning. She said she ate pizza with mushrooms. Yesterday and last night, the Chisinau ambulance doctors recorded 666 calls. 251 persons were hospitalized.
