Young persons aged between 18 and 25 from Moldova, including Transnistria and Gagauzia, are invited to become members of the second Youth Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Given the European requirements concerning the reformation of the education system, this school should be continued so as to allow the young people to assert themselves at the social, economic and political levels,” said Mihai Ghimpu, the Head of Parliament and Acting President of Moldova.
The contest for seats of MP will be held between November 17 and December 12. There will be selected 71 young persons. The first sitting of the Youth Parliament will take place late in December.
Sergiu Bejenari, the head of the Governing Youth Institute, said the idea of this project derived from the necessity of creating a platform for the young people to express their opinions on the political problems faced in the country.
Denis Parea, MP in the first Youth Parliament, said he had a unique possibility of expressing himself and familiarizing himself with the legislative work as part of this program. “This program helps promote democracy among the youth,” Denis Parea said.
During a year, the 71 young people will attend trainings seminars given by members of the Parliament and independent experts.
The Youth Parliament national program was initiated in December 2008 and is implemented by the Governing Youth Institute of Moldova in partnership with the Parliament of Moldova. It is supported financially by the Embassy of the United States and the Embassy of the Netherlands.
