A group of young people ask the authorities to intervene in a case of swindle that involves a company that promised workplaces in Canada and the U.S. They said the director of the given company, Petru Jitaru collected over €300,000 from about 200 persons, sold the firm and washed his hands of everything. They complain that besides becoming the victims of a swindler, they are also the victims of the defective national legal system, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Wednesday, one of the young persons, Ana Axenti said that initially they sought help from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, but they were told that no offense against the state was committed in this case and were directed to the Buiucani Prosecutor’s Office. There, they were directed to the Buiucani Police Commissariat, where they were told that if a contract was signed it is a civil lawsuit and they should go to court. The court rejected their application, arguing the contract contains a clause saying the appearing disputes are solved by amicable ways.
”How can we find an amicable way if the firm no longer exists? The Buiucani Police Commissariat opened an investigation, but only questioned the victims during three months,” said the young woman. Ana Axenti considers that the examination of this case is intentionally postponed. She said the former director of the company Petru Jitaru had been involved in other similar cases.
Another young person, Leonid Corceag said they want to get back their money, while Petru Jitaru and his team should be held accountable. He called on Minister of the Interior Alexei Roib, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko and Prime Minister Vlad Filat to take measures.
The young people said they will stage a protest in front of the Government Building on October 31, between 12.00 and 15.00.
