Youth & Sports Ministry rewards medal-winning junior weightlifters

Minister of Youth and Sports Ion Cebanu praised the performance of the Moldovan junior weightlifters at the European Championships, where they earned one golden, one silver, and two bronze medals, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We need such examples. Athletes are ambassadors of performance”, stated Ceban at a press conference held on Wednesday on this occasion. Through governmental ordinance, Ghenadie Dudoglo will be awarded 13,000 lei for the gold medal and other 9,000 lei for the silver. Artiom Pipa will get 12,000 for the two bronzes. The president of the National Weightlifting Federation, Olympic gold medalist Tudor Casapu, extended his congratulations to the entire junior team, which placed 7th out of 28 national teams participating in the competition. Coach Gheorghe Gutu however said his pupils would have done even better had they had adequate conditions for training. The Sports Agency spent 160,000 lei on the participation of the national team in the Championships.
