The band “Zdob si Zdub” may perform at the end of the concert that will be given in central Chisinau on the Independence Day. The organizers of the event abandoned the idea of inviting a Romanian band to Chisinau. It was earlier reported that the band “Cargo” may be the special invitee of the evening, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the August 18 meeting of the state commission for organizing the August 27 events, Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said the band “Zdob si Zdub” will receive €5,000 for a recital that will last for one hour and a half. The contract was signed, but there are yet to be agreed a number of aspects.
”They invoked they will encounter problems to travel to Chisinau from Moscow, where they have a tour. The given issue appeared after the contract was signed. The contract does not stipulate buying tickets to Chisinau from Moscow, which are rather expensive,” said the minister. According to him, if “Zdob si Zdub” does not come, the concert will be continued by other national artists after fireworks.
Boris Focsa also said that the Independence Day concert this year will be serious. “It will be a live concert with our orchestras, including “Lautarii”, and only national singers. We promised that only national artists will perform at national events and we keep our word. The concert will involve the best Moldovan singers,” he said.
He stressed that the artists will be paid 2,000 to 15,000 lei. The cultural events will cost 1.4 million lei overall.
Romanian singer Stefan Banica Junior will perform on the Our Language Day on August 31. The concert will be organized by the Chisinau City Hall.
