The president of the Party of Socialists Zinaida Grecheanyi considers the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality need a good manager as mayor, who would take care of the capital city, of the roads, sidewalks, green areas, social facilities. The Socialist leader made the statement after casting her ballot in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The politician voiced hope that the voters will mobilize and will take a correct decision. “I consider things will change and Chisinau will indeed become a capital city of Moldova of which we will be proud and which will be similar to other capital cities, including the European ones and not only. We must yet have our own specific features, of the Moldovans,” she said.
Zinaida Grecheanyi called on the citizens to go and vote and not to listen to the politicians who urge the people to be indifferent because this is sheer irresponsibility.
Eleven candidates are contending for the mayoralty of Chisinau. For the elections to be valid, the voter turnout should be of at least one fourth of the voters. The candidate who gains more than half of the votes wins the elections. If no one gathers the necessary number of votes, runoffs are held in two weeks for the two candidates who obtained most of the votes. If the elections are invalidated or nullified, they are rerun in two weeks based on the same voter rolls and with the same candidates.
