If the candidate supported by the Party of Socialists for the office of President, Alexandr Stoianoglo, is not registered or will be excluded from the presidential race, the party undertakes to boycott the election and to call on the people to take to the streets, said the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon. He noted that he heard various hypotheses about the possible nonregistration or exclusion of their candidate from the race, IPN reports.
During his live show, Igor Dodon said that an increasing number of persons intend to run for President. In his opinion, there will be around 15-20 potential candidates, but no more than 10 will manage to collect the necessary signatures. “It is not known how many will pass the registration filter, but it is obvious that the struggle has already begun,” said the politician.
The Socialist leader expects that this election campaign will not be simple. “The government believes and Maia Sandu hopes that she will win by the first round, but the chances are nil. The waters are clearing and it is evident that the runoffs will be between Maia Sandu and Alexandr Stoianoglo. This fact is also admitted by the government’s propagandists. The runoffs will be between Maia Sandu and Stoianoglo - the candidate supported by the Party of Socialists and me personally,” stated Igor Dodon.
He also said that he heard various suppositions that Alexandr Stoianoglo will not be registered or will be removed from the electoral competition. If this happens, the PSRM will boycott the election and will urge the people to protest.
About a month ago, the Party of Socialists fielded former prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo as the common candidate of the opposition in this autumn’s presidential election.
