The number of people intoxicated with mushrooms has increased, 10 cases have been recorded by the Emergency Medical Assistance Service only last week.
Asked by IPN, Vladislava Ceban, the institution's spokeswoman, has said that people should avoid eating mushrooms purchased from unauthorized places or persons. "People are not careful when buying mushrooms. Regardless of whether they are frozen, preserved, dried, or cooked - they remain poisonous anyway”, warned Vladislava Ceban.
She has also mentioned that the mushroom season is just starting and that, during this time of the year, the number of mushroom poisonings is higher. "If a person shows signs of mushroom poisoning, such as nausea, weakness, vision disorders, hallucinations, he must obligatorily seek medical care. Signs of mushroom poisoning can occur from a few minutes to 3-6 hours after consumption. Until the doctor arrives, the intoxicated person must lie down, drink water and avoid self-administration of medicine”, stated Vladislava Ceban.
According to a statement of the Emergency Medical Assistance Service, the worst case of mushroom poisoning this week was on October 22, in Cantemir district. Five people called the Emergency Service, following the consumption of mushrooms collected in domestic conditions. At the scene arrived the team from Baimaclia that provided urgent para-medical assistance. Subsequently, 4 patients were transported to Cantemir District Hospital for treatment.
