Rural vacation in Moldova costs almost as much as seaside vacation
A weekend at a rural tourism establishment in Moldova has a cost of around 2,500 lei ($222.7) for two. The most popular rural destinations are those in the area of the Old Orhei (Orheiul Vechi), which are also the most tested by time, Nicolae Platon, the president of the National Tourism Association, has told Info-Prim Neo.
All the rural tourism establishments in the country, 17 officially registered, are arranged in a traditional style, with folk motifs, and are located near picturesque sites and natural monuments. A vacation at such an establishment includes accommodation and meals, but seldom excursions or entertainment programs.
For excursions, concerts and other entertainment activities these establishments cooperate with different guides and bands, for whose services tourists pay separately.
As a rule, the tourists spend 2 to 3 days at rural establishments. Most of them are from Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the US.
In Moldova, besides rural tourism, the so-called wine tours are also popular, says Nicolae Platon. For a one-day tour with 2 or 3 destinations visited a tourist will usually pay 65 euros.
