Television providers are to allocate at least 10% of the broadcast time to European audiovisual works of independent producers in Moldova as of June 22, 2024, the Audiovisual Council said in a press release, which is quoted by IPN.
This provision of the Code of Audiovisual Media Services implies the earmarking of at least 10% of the airtime of each media service for European works created by independent producers in the country. This quota does not include time allocated to news, sporting events, games, commercials, teletext services and teleshopping.
In its Action Plan for this year, the Audiovisual Council set the goal of monitoring the compliance by media service providers with this legal norm.
The given provision does not apply to radio stations, local and community TV channels, news stations, sports stations and stations exclusively devoted to teleshopping and advertising.
