Two men tried to bring guns into Great National Assembly Square
Two men risk losing their firearms licenses after they tried to bring guns into the zone designated for Independence Day celebrations in the Great National Assembly Square. According to the police, the law forbids the access of people carrying firearms to mass events even if they hold a license.
Chisinau's police chief Silviu Musuc told the City Hall's meeting on Tuesday that the guns were discovered by metal security detectors. The transgressors face fines ranging from 800 to 1,000 lei and the Ministry of Interior could withdraw their firearms licenses.
Silviu Musuc reported that during the Independence Day celebrations the police recorded 12 public order violations in total, mostly related to alcohol consumption.
Musuc also noted that the participants in the celebrations left tons of garbage behind. To avoid such a situation during the Language Day celebrations on August 31, it was suggested that the municipality should provide more bins and waste bags and the stage should be installed on Pushkin Street. Musuc also proposed to instal a security fence around the Square.
