The two buses from the Republic of Moldova that remained trapped on the Kuchurgan–Odessa road because of drifting on January 28 could continue their way as a result of snow removal works. All the passengers are safe and sound. The information was confirmed for IPN by press officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Sergiu Corcodel.
The Transnistrian press reported that one of the buses was heading for Russia, while the other one for the Transnistrian region. A team of rescuers from the Transnistrian region reached the buses that got stuck in Ukraine at about 7pm. Some of the passengers decided not to continue their way to Moscow and returned home together with the rescuers.
The persons from the buses had stayed in snowdrifts for a day.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the emergency telephone line of Moldova’s Consular Office in Odessa - +380 99 242 0835 - which was set up exclusively for Moldovans in difficult emergency situations, remains active.
