Two of England’s star players won’t travel to Chisinau

England coach Roy Hodgson announced the squad that will travel to Chisinau for the match on September 7. However, two of England’s best players didn’t make the squad, Info-Prim Neo learned from the foreign press. Forward Wayne Rooney was injured during the Fulham game after Hugo Rodallega accidentally stamped with his studs on Rooney’s thigh. The Manchester United striker was taken to the hospital and is expected to be on the sidelines for about 4 weeks. According to some reports, Rio Ferdinand will also miss out the games with Moldova and Ukraine in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers because of his poor relationship with England boss Roy Hodgson. 24 players were called up by Hodgson for the match. Moldovan coach Ion Caras announced a 32-man squad for the games against England and Poland. Caras didn’t call up footballers from Zimbru or Dacia, angry because they refused to go in the US tour. Instead, he called up Moldovans who ply their trade in Russia: Alexandru Epureanu, Igor Armas, Victor Golovatenco and Alexandru Gatcan, or in Kazakhstan, Iran and Israel: Serghei Covalciuc, Serghei Pascenco and Eugen Sidorenco. Alexandru Suvorov, Vitalie Bordian and Petru Racu were included in the squad as well. Five Sheriff players were called up. FC Tiraspol’s Anatolie Boestean and Milsami Orhei’s Marian Stoleru are among the surprise inclusions. The fixture between Moldova and England will be played on September 7, at 9.45 PM. Tickets will be sold from September 1 and will cost between 70 and 250 lei.
