Undeclared goods of about 150 thousand lei, found in two trains on Moscow-Chisinau route

Five batches of consumer goods, estimated at over 150 thousand lei, were detected by mobile teams of the Customs Service in two trains on Moscow-Chisinau route. The five train wagon attendants, investigated in this case, could not present any documents of origin, says a press release of the Customs Service, quoted by IPN.

According to the press release, the consignments of goods were found in Vălcineț, following the checks carried out on two trainsets coming from Moscow. Acting on a risk analysis basis, customs officers seized mobile phones and accessories for telephones, clothing items, cosmetics, foodstuffs, spare auto parts, undeclared in order to avoid the payment of customs duties.

According to preliminary information, the goods were purchased from the Russian Federation and were to reach the final beneficiaries for the purpose of unauthorized sale on the markets of the Republic of Moldova. The train wagon attendants acted as intermediaries, which ensured the illegal transportation of goods across the customs border.

Customs Service informs that the persons involved risk a fine of up to 4500 lei, while the consignments have been seized and sent to the specialized subdivisions of the Customs Service, such as the State Tax Service (SFS).

The goods handed over to the SFS are confiscated through the courts, which render judgments in this regard, and are further marketed by economic agents who come into possession of the products under a consignment contract. If the goods are not sold, they are sent free of charge to state institutions.
