Victims of April 2009 protests seek Igor Dodon's withdrawal from electoral race

Victims of the April 7, 2009 events call upon the Communist Party's candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon to withdraw from the electoral race and publicly apologize for the statements made in a program on Publika TV, where he said that the victims of those protests were 'so-called victims', Info-Prim Neo reports. “Such words hurt us, the participants in the April 7, 2009 protests. We were beaten and maltreated, while the girls were raped. Are we 'so-called victims'?,” asked Eugen Bogdan, a victim of the April 2009 events. According to the young man, Igor Dodon is dissatisfied because he was not named a victim himself as the Communists remained without power, property and bank accounts as a result of those events. Victor Boboc, the father of Valeriu Boboc who died during the April 2009 events, said he wants Igor Dodon to go through the same sufferings as his family. “To have your child killed by a Communist regime is the most painful thing. If you were in my place or the place of my wife, Mister Dodon, you knew what this means,” said Victor Boboc. Parascovia Hancu condemned Igor Dodon's statements, wishing him to experience the same pain as the parents of the maltreated young people. She also said that Igor Dodon should go to the families of the young people who died during those events and ask them if they were 'so-called dead' . “We are indignant at what Igor Dodon said. Shame on you, Mister Dodon. You'd better withdraw from the electoral race,” said the mother of Damian Hancu, who was a victim of those events. Damian Hancu, who studies abroad, sent an electronic message, saying that Igor Dodon does not deserve taking part in the elections and he, as well as Vladimir Voronin and all those who governed the country, should be imprisoned. “As a free citizen of Moldova with European views, I wish you, Mister Dodon, to go through the same pain as the parents of those victims and feel yourself what it's like to have you children barbarously mutilated, tortured and killed by an antihuman regime,” said Damian Hancu. In a May 17 program on Publika TV, which was also attended by Dorin Chirtoaca, Igor Dodon labeled the victims of the April 2009 protests as 'so-called victims'.
