3 000 pupils were informed about energy efficiency

Around 3 000 schoolchildren learned more about ways to save energy resources. The training was organized in 80 interactive workshops held from August to December by Green City Lab Moldova. Eight workshops took place at summer camps, the other 72 - in schools in different localities, IPN reports.

Students were provided with information on energy efficiency and renewable energy resources. Ten trainings were also organized for adults. Most of the participants in the workshops were from rural localities, and the discussions emphasized the possibilities of integrating good energy-saving practices, as well as using biomass as an energy source to meet the challenges.

"Young people are very interested in the topics related to sustainable development, but it is important to deliver the right information and teach them how everyone in their own homes can contribute to having a cleaner country, a healthier environment and, respectively, to leave our descendants a healthy planet", said Irina Apostol, workshop facilitator, Green City Lab Moldova.

The training workshops were organized in the framework of the project "Multidimensional response to emerging human security challenges", implemented by UNDP Moldova with funding from Japan.
