Association to promote Moldovan wines on Japanese market launched in Tokyo

The association “Wine of Moldova Japan”, the representative office in Japan of the National Office of Vine and Wine, was launched. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Tokyo noted that it is an important stage in promoting the Moldovan wines on the Japanese market, IPN reports.

Moldova’s Ambassador to Japan Dumitru Socolan underlined the role played by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in supporting activities to promote Moldovan products on the Japanese market.

National Office for Vine and Wine director Ștefan Iamandi noted the Moldovan wine companies’ interest in exploring both the Japanese market and the entire Far East region.

Elena Iovu Endo, executive director of “Wine of Moldova Japan” office, presented the goals and action plans of the representative office, pointing out the potential to expand the Moldovan wine products on the Japanese market, given the increasing popularity of high-quality wines among consumers in this country.

Yoshimasa Hayashi, chairman of the friendship group with Moldova in the National Diet of Japan, praised the quality of the Moldovan wine and expressed his personal support for the expansion of ties between Moldova and Japan, appreciating the opening of “Wine of Moldova Japan” office as an important step in this direction.

While on a working visit to Japan, secretary general of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry Sergiu Gherciu said that this step represents a significant opportunity and a turning point for the Moldovan wine industry. “The implementation of this project was possible due to the close cooperation between the development partners, the private sector and the team of the National Office of Vine and Wine of Moldova. Of course, it is important to note the constant support we received from the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Tokyo. All our efforts have one goal: to expand the presence of Moldovan wines on international markets and improve their reputation,” said the official.

The promotional events dedicated to the creation and inauguration of “Wine of Moldova Japan” office in the Japanese capital were possible thanks to the financial and logistical support of the USAID-funded Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity, with the assistance of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Japan.
