Cooperation between Moldova and China discussed at Economic Forum in Chisinau

Cooperation between Moldova and China in environmental protection and the green economy represents an important step toward building a greener, more sustainable future for both countries. China has made significant advances in renewable energy, and Moldova could benefit from this expertise. This perspective was shared by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Environment, Petru Tataru, at the second edition of the Moldova-China Economic Forum, which focused on the potential for collaboration with Chinese suppliers, IPN reports.

Petru Tataru emphasized that the potential for Moldovan-Chinese cooperation in environmental protection could serve as a model for mutual commitment to a green, sustainable, and equitable future.

"In the face of major global challenges - climate change, air and water pollution, and biodiversity loss - it is essential for countries to collaborate on shared solutions and sustainable policies to protect the environment. The business sector plays a particularly important role through innovative technologies in production and trade practices", said Petru Tataru.

The President of the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Boris Foca, highlighted that China ranks among the "top five countries" in terms of products exported to Moldova. "In 2023, Moldova imported $350 million worth of electrical components from China, $175 million in electric machinery and parts, and $70 million in packaging materials. Other imports included plastic products, furniture, and decorations. As for Moldovan exports to China, wine, beer, and textiles were the main products", Boris Foca noted.

Mihai Bilba, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova, mentioned that in 2026, the "Made in Moldova" exhibition could feature a shared pavilion for Chinese companies, provided there is interest from Chinese partners to showcase their products and services.

Starting December 1, the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce is offering a new service called "Your Agent in China". This initiative aims to simplify the search for Chinese partners and provide detailed information to Moldovan businesses about import and export procedures with China. To support this effort, the Chamber has hired a Chinese national.
