The Moldovan farmers will be exempted from the entire bureaucracy when applying for certificates needed to obtain subsidies now that agriculture is undergoing electronic transformations, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said in the e-Agriculture Day event. He underlined that the Agricultural Information Center that was created last year by a Government Decision stepped up its work, IPN reports.

The Agricultural Information Center is the main ring in the electronic transformation process in agriculture and represents a platform on which there will be stored all the information and services from the agricultural sector. The center was created by merging several enterprises, including “Registrul Animalelor” (“Animals Register”) and the scientific-technological enterprise “Agroindsistem”.

The Center represents the single national operator of all the information systems in agriculture, which ensures the registration, veracity and interconnection of data in the field. Its main tasks are to implement the e-Agriculture principle and the ‘one-stop office’ principle by ensuring common infrastructure that strengthens the information systems in e-Agriculture, to store and maintain all the information systems in the agro-industrial sector.

Vasile Bumacov said the Center’s services will be mainly used by the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture and the National Food Safety Agency that will be able to ask for any information about a farmer, even if this information does not refer to the agricultural sector only, as the Agricultural Information Center will be interconnected with other digitized services.

The minister added that the data collected by the Agricultural Information Center will help promote policies in agriculture as the authorities will have a database with information about the developed and less developed sectors, the areas where progress is made and those where more support is needed, etc.
