Four of the largest electric vehicle charging companies from Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and France have announced plans to create the largest public charging network in Europe, IPN reports.
The network, called Spark Alliance, will feature 11,000 charging points and 1,700 charging stations across 25 European countries, according to Reuters.
Starting in June, customers will be able to access and pay for ultra-fast charging (up to 400 kW) using any app from a Spark Alliance member.
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has been advocating for the expansion of EV charging infrastructure to reassure consumers about vehicle range and boost demand for electric transport.
According to the European Commission, 3.5 million charging stations will need to be installed by 2030.
