Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu met in Kyiv with his Ukrainian counterpart Gehrman Galushchenko to discuss energy security and the development of gas and electricity supply alternatives. The officials stressed the importance of coordinating efforts in the field and maintaining dialogue with the European Union, IPN reports.
The possibility for Moldova to use underground gas storage facilities in Ukraine to create strategic reserves was a major topic of the discussions.
Also, Ukraine's support options for the supply of electricity to Moldovan consumers, given the interconnection with the European ENTSO-E network, were discussed.
Energocom representatives, who were part of the Moldovan delegation, had meetings with the managers of the Ukrainian companies D.Trading and Naftogaz Ukraine. The discussions focused on strengthening trade cooperation and identifying partnership opportunities in the energy sector.
"The sides expressed their commitment to continue cooperation in the energy sector, especially for achieving the common objectives of European integration," the Moldovan authorities noted following the visit to Ukraine.
