The Republic of Moldova will participate in the CEB capital increase, following the approval of a resolution by the Governing Board of the Council of Europe Development Bank. A draft law in this regard was given a first reading by Parliament, IPN reports.

Thus, the Republic of Moldova is invited to subscribe for new participation certificates worth €4 258 000. The resolution sets the proportion of paid-up capital for this capital increase at 28.24% of the subscribed capital. Thus, the paid-up capital will rise to €1 202 459. The paid-up capital is to be paid in four equal installments, in 2025-2027. The necessary financial means are to be planned, each year, in the annual budget laws.

According to the explanatory note of the draft law, Moldova’s participation in the capital increase will result in access to advantageous financing conditions and increase the international visibility of the Republic of Moldova by contributing to strengthening the image and visibility of the state internationally. Another goal is to emphasize the country's commitment to international cooperation and to support sustainable development in the region.

So far, six capital increases have been carried out within the Council of Europe Development Bank and Moldova participated only in the 2012 increase, ensured from the Bank's reserve fund.

The Republic of Moldova has been a member of the Council of Europe Development Bank since 1998. So far, our country has benefited from loans of approximately €230 million for the implementation of eight projects. It goes to the construction of social housing, modernization of the National Clinical Hospital "Timofei Mosneaga", building of a regional hospital in the north of the country, purchase of ambulances, etc. Likewise, grants worth €23 million were awarded. According to the authorities, the bank provides advantageous long-term financing, with a grace period of up to five years and a repayment period of up to 20 years, and no fees are applied.
