During 2005-2009 there were registered 475 people who officially earned 1 million lei or more annually, but only 12 of them appeared every time in the millionaires' list in all those five years, Info-Prim Neo reports, citing data from the State Revenue Service. 14 people were millionaires for four years, 16 for three years, 54 for two years, and 379 persons were millionaires for just one year in this period. In the period 2005-2007, the number of millionaires rose considerably from 58 in 2005 to 170 in 2007. In 2008 the number of persons with annual incomes exceeding 1 million lei rose insignificantly from 170 to 186, and in 2009 their number decreased to 142. Although 91 persons disappeared from the list, of the 142 millionaires registered in 2009, 91 were newly entered. This happened despite the global and regional economic recession that year. The data of the State Revenue Service also show that the largest amount of annual income declared and income tax paid was registered in 2007 – 204.09 million lei and 37.73 million lei, respectively. The largest annual income paid by an employer and the amount of tax on it was registered in 2008 – 395.95 million lei and 34.83 million lei, respectively.
