In February 2024, the coverage of the net demand for foreign currency from economic agents through the net supply of foreign currency from individuals was 90.5%, compared to 97.4% in January 2024, IPN reports.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, compared to the previous month, the net supply of foreign currency from individuals decreased by US$20.1 million (-9.5%). The net demand for foreign currency from economic agents declined by US$5.7 million (-2.6%).
In the course of February, the NBM didn’t intervene on the local foreign exchange market.
At the same time, last month, the Moldovan leu depreciated in average values by 0.9% against the U.S. dollar down to 17.8434 USD/MDL.
