As many as 370 applications for financial support as partial compensation for damage caused by natural disasters in the summer of 2023 were submitted. Of these, 285 were approved and 37.6 million lei will be disbursed to farmers on Monday, Diana Cosalîc, deputy director of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA), said in a press briefing, being quoted by IPN.
Notifications were sent in the case of 71 applications because these contained inconsistencies. If the farmers do not exclude them, they will be rejected. Another 17 applications were rejected because they didn’t meet the eligibility criteria.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea said that 360 of the 370 applications submitted referred to compensation for damage caused by drought to corn crops. This year AIPA manages 1.650 billion lei, including 50 million from the government’s reserve for allocating financial support. So far, AIPA has used 715 million lei.
