Advertising and audiovisual programs sponsored by legal entities that organize gambling will be allowed between 10:00 p.m. and 07:00 a.m. It will also be allowed to display advertisements for games of chance such as lotteries, which do not exceed the size of the A4 format, and only at commercial units through which the means of gambling specific to the given type of activity are distributed. The provisions are contained in a draft law adopted by the Parliament in the first reading, IPN reports.
Under the draft law, mandatory mentions will be made in advertising products about the negative impact of gambling, which will constitute at least 20% of the time or area of the advertisement. Likewise, advertising in public or private periodicals will be allowed and the space reserved for gambling advertising will not exceed 15% of the space of an issue of the edition.
Also, the National Lottery of Moldova will be allowed to publish the results of gambling on the website.
"The vast majority of advertising restrictions will remain in place. The most invasive advertising, the online one, on outdoor banners will remain prohibited. Likewise, advertising for gambling with the greatest social risk, such as slot machines and casinos, remains prohibited," said the chairman of the commission on economy, budget and finance Radu Marian, who is also one of the sponsors of the legislative initiative.
In 2018, the Public Property Agency, JSC "National Lottery of Moldova", "NGM SPC Limited" and "NGM Company" Ltd signed a public-private partnership for the development of the activities of the National Lottery of Moldova in the sector of lotteries and sports betting, including through electronic communication networks.
In 2018-2023, revenues of 607 million lei were collected into the national public budget as a result of the activities managed by the National Lottery of Moldova.
