PAS faction in CMC against sanitation tax again this year

The municipal councilors of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) announce that they will not support the introduction of the sanitation tax and that they will vote for the Chisinau City Hall's budget only under certain conditions. At a press conference, the councillors said that the proposed budget for next year is anti-social and deprives vulnerable people of support, IPN reports.

PAS councillors say they will support the municipal budget if extended program groups and personal assistants caring for people with severe disabilities will continue to be funded from the Chisinau municipal budget. Similarly, PAS representatives propose the creation of a fund of at least 100 million lei for the development and improvement of courtyards and residential blocks.

The PAS faction in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) also proposes a three-fold increase in the fund for suburbs, as well as the takeover by the City Hall of the program of heating compensation for low-income Chisinau residents.

The deputy chairman of the faction, Dumitru Ivanov, said that the representatives of the municipality propose to increase local taxes in Chisinau by about 10%. Moreover, the sanitation tax remains and the city hall intends to collect it also from those who have not paid it so far, Dumitru Ivanov said.

According to the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council of December 14, 2022 on the approval and implementation of local taxes for the year 2023, the sanitation tax was approved in the amount of 10 lei per month for each subject of the tax, i.e. person registered at the address declared as residence, depending on the apartment and block or house on the ground.
