Slusari: Agricultural subsidy system risks failing

The agricultural subsidy system risks witnessing a financial collapse in 2025, said Alexandr Slusari. The former leader of the Farmers' Force Association noted that the debts for last year and the applications for subsidies submitted in 2024 total about 3 billion lei. But the National Agricultural Development Fund for next year amounts to 1.7 billion lei, of which almost 100 million lei do not go on subsidies.

Slusari said that the financial resources, designed to support farmers, were used "irrationally, in a distorted and discriminatory way". "I am waiting for the fulfillment of the public promise regarding the publication of the list of subsidy beneficiaries for the last 5 years. I am curious to know how many farmers received 70-80 percent of the subsidy fund," noted the expert.

According to Alexandr Slusari, the Ministry of Agriculture, "seeing the increase in the deficit of the subsidy fund, did not take measures to supplement it and did not turn to the European Union to attract the necessary resources to support the agro-industrial sector".

"Not a single euro of the macro-financial assistance from the European Union has reached the Agricultural Development Fund," said Slusari.

The Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry have not yet reacted to Alexandr Slusari's statements, IPN reports.
