The Socialist Party (PSRM) nominated Alexandr Stoianoglo as a candidate in the October 20 presidential election, while stressing that the former prosecutor general remains unaffiliated.
PSRM president Igor Dodon praised Stoianoglo as “an irreproachable professional” who “demonstrated courage and integrity in the fight against injustice”.
“He is a statesman, a family man, a man who respects Christian values. The vote for Stoianoglo is not necessarily a vote for the Socialists, but the vote of the PSRM followers will be a direct vote for Stoianoglo”, declared Dodon
“And very importantly, he has no political affiliation. So, he will be impartial in his political conduct in relation to all the citizens of Moldova. While Mr. Stoianoglo will run with the support of PSRM, the party’s platform does not mean party affiliation. This is a way to facilitate his registration in the ballot, and so that his electoral campaign is managed as best as possible organizationally. Otherwise, Alexandr Stoianoglo is the candidate who best fits the term of a broad consensus candidate, a candidate of the people, a candidate of all opposition forces”, said Igor Dodon.
Alexandr Stoianoglo declared that the only thing the citizens of Moldova expect is to be served justice. “Each group of citizens needs its kind of justice. Professionals in the justice system want to be left alone in doing their job, without abuse, without harassment and without political dictatorship. Teachers want justice in their demands of better wages and better working conditions. Doctors, public sector employees, civil servants want the same thing. Farmers demand their justice when they ask for support from the government in the catastrophic situation faced by their sector”, the former prosecutor general said.
Next, PSRM is to register Stoianoglo’s endorsement group with the Central Electoral Commission.
