The state introduces stricter rules for the sale of solid biofuel. Manufacturers will be obliged to indicate on the product the information about its quality, writing on packaging the country of origin, storage conditions, as well as the number of the laboratory test report with the name of the accredited laboratory. This is stipulated in the regulations on solid biofuel approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
Producers of solid biofuels do not always comply with the requirements, sometimes applying dubious practices to obtain the supporting documents needed to place products on the market. As a result, poor quality products are found on the market, which can lead to damage to biomass boilers.
"We seek to use practically the only renewable resource for heating – solid biofuel, to reduce dependence on the import of energy resources. But in this market, one of the major constraints is that, at the moment, consumers cannot trust the quality of this biofuel. The way it is produced, marked, certified does not currently provide a guarantee for consumers that this biofuel will have the necessary calorific value," said Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov.
The official noted that measures should be taken to improve the quality of solid biofuels that are sold in the country, and the application of stricter rules is a step in this direction.
