100 tonnes of banned chemical substance found in Chisinau storehouse

The police discovered 100 tonnes of crystalohydrate magnesium sulfate, whose use is banned in Moldova, in a store in Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the substance was brought into Moldova in 2013, using non-authentic documents. Recently, the police carried out an inspection at a storehouse located on Muncesti St in Chisinau and found the substance.

The Chemistry Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova established that the chemical substance was crystalohydrate magnesium sulfate, which was not included in the State Register of Phytosanitary Products and Fertilizers that can be used in Moldova. The storehouse was sealed up.

The case had been documented between January 26 and February 6. The collected evidence was submitted to the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office for examination.

Contacted by IPN, Prosecutor of Chisinau Ion Diacov said that no criminal case has been started yet. The prosecutors are to carry out additional investigations into this case.
